Happy Giving Tuesday to my curious and k!nky folx!

I would like to highlight a few different organizations that I believe are important to support this Giving Tuesday and all year long!

Transformations: A KC Trans And Gender Expansive Youth Organization is innovative and brave in their vision for safer transgender, nonbinary, gender-expansive, and gender nonconforming (TGNC) communities.

They need to raise funds for their micro grant programs, hiring staff, building multimedia content, while continuing to pay stipends to transgender people of color who help lead virtual content. This investment of funds allows them to prioritize virtual content that is free and accessible for young people across their targeted region.

Help them continue doing their important work by clicking the following link to donate:

Barrier Babes strive to educate on topics of sexuality, health, and menstruation through educational programming and to provide important resources such as tampons and pads in local schools, and condoms in businesses like local bars and hangout spots.

Donating to Barrier Babes helps fund necessary resources and products for the Kansas City metro area. Click the following link to donate and support their work:

Safe In Harm's Way Foundation, Inc. is an international organization working with abuse survivors across the world. They are hoping to be an online bridge for survivors, giving a voice to the truth and connecting them with the necessary resources to leave perpetrators, plus thrive in the "after."

Donating to Safe in Harm's Way helps them provide the vocabulary, training, tools, and resources to create a safe life with less fear, sadness, and disease for survivors! Click the link to donate today:

Artist, activist, and educator Merrique Jenson @merriquej and I had a lively conversation on this week’s episode of Keep Them Coming! We discussed Trans Day of Remembrance, race, equity, social justice work, gatekeeping, and making changes in our community. Merrique is the Program Director for @kctransformations, a youth organization for transgender and gender nonconforming teens and adolescents. She has guided the organization to refocus it’s efforts specifically on youth that are brown and black that face systemic racism and poverty much more than their white counterparts, who often have family support and access to resources. Merrique was also diligent in ensuring our conversation was not just about the trauma of the trans experience, as #tdor is often centered around, but that we also talked about how the Dolls are thriving! We discussed sex work, paying for surgeries, living authentically, and the challenges of dating and relationships as a trans woman. #transgender #transdayofremembrance #dolls #dollsofinstagram #lgbt #transwoman #transwomenarewomen

Happy Polyamory Day! Though this is technically a Canadian holiday celebrating polyamory becoming legal in Canada in 2011, I still like to point it out. Polyamory is the practice, desire, or acceptance of having more than one intimate relationship at a time with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved. Speaking of polyamory and ethical non-monogomy, take a look back at my September column for The Pitch where I discussed how the pandemic dramatically effected dating life for polyamorous individuals.

Today is #Polyamory Day! ICYMI in September, my first column with The Pitch Kansas City was about Polyamory in the Pandemic. I interviewed locals and out of town friends to understand more about how the pandemic was affecting their love lives.
